TiPS – Development Program for Testing in Polish and Slovene

The aim of this project is to extend to Polish and Slovene five existing LINGUA products in the field of test development:

  • A Glossary of Testing Terms: English-Polish-Slovene – the work is finished, the publishing is in its final stage;
  • Can Do Statements – the Slovene version is in print, the Polish version is under evaluation;
  • Guidelines for Test Item Writers – both versions are under evaluation;
  • Checklists for Test Evaluation – both versions are under evaluation;
  • The Breakthrough Level specifications – the Slovene version is alrerady in print, the Polish version is under evaluation and reviewing.

In Poland and Slovenia there is a direct interest in improving the quality of materials for language learning, teaching and testing which are available in those countries. Four institutions participate in the project. Coordinating institution is the School of Polish Language and Culture at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. It is joined by a center for teaching and testing of Slovene as a Foreign language at the University of Ljubljana, a center for Modern Greek at the University of Athens and Universitas – a Polish publishing society.
